Was a wonderful day filled with things I love to do:playing with Gator, laundry, clean, bake, and cook… :P

I was talking to a friend when I told him I really love being home and being a wife/Mom…as funny as it sounds I feel a sense of accomplishment when I clean, bake, do laundry, grocery shop, cook, etc. I started to think about it and I am pretty sure I am a dieing breed. I know I could work if we needed me to but I have come to love being home.

It has given me many opportunities for not only my boys but for me to grow. I have been given the opportunities to help many little ones and their parents who need to work. Each one have been a part of our world and to this day my boys still talk about them all!

Yes, it may be strange to hear it but I love being home. I love all the menial chores. I love playing with the kids. I love being a wife and Mom. At this point in my life…it defines me. :)

Work today for tomorrow we play…

Thursday, February 4, 2010

Tomorrow the boys have a day off from school. I have already scheduled the racquetball court, and thought maybe we’ll go swimming too! :)

Today, I am getting the laundry done, cleaning the house, and prepping to play tomorrow. ;)

We have a parent teacher conference with T’s teacher tonight. I am a little worried since this will be the first time we have spoken since she decided to tell me I’m a bad parent. GOOD THOUGHTS…I’m bringing my own sunshine! :P

Also, Con has another church ball game tonight…maybe he foul out?!?! Hee,hee, hee :D

Proud to be an American

Wednesday, February 3, 2010

Today, I was able to be part of a Naturalization Ceremony for a good friend. I didn’t think it would affect that much, but it did. I am soooo grateful for the oppotunities I have been given being born into this country. While I sat and listened to some of the people who became an American today talk about the excitement and thought of their future here in the USA…I was proud. Today, a good friend of ours became an American…a BIG STEP. I am excited that she now has the freedoms and rights that I do in this country…GOD BLESS AMERICA! :)

Authortative Figure

Monday, February 1, 2010

This next post is more of a ‘journal entry’ so to speak…

On Friday evening we went to a futsal game for T. He is playing with some pretty talented boys and so far has enjoyed the experience. That evening the boys were scheduled to play a team that is U13 and State Cup finalists. (T is the ONLY 11-year-old on a U12 team…at times you can’t tell he’s younger and others it is blatantly obvious.) T’s team came out strong and pretty much dominated the game. It was a close game, but none the less T’s team had more possession and abilities that night. With about 10 minutes left in the game the opposing team started to get frustrated and chippy. At first the ref allowed the play to continue and no one said a word but by the time one of T’s teammates was fouled off the ball the parents were getting a little irritated. The final straw…2 minutes left and T is fouled. He’s not only fouled he’s sent flying into the net and the fans chairs. The ref called nothing. Normally, T would have started crying and come off, but this time he told his coach, “No, I want to play!” To say his Dad and I were shocked would be an understatement. At that point, I guess he turned to the ref and asked that he ‘call it both ways’. To which the ref replied, “You’re a sissy.” T’s team ended up winning the game by 2 but battled until the buzzer. Afterwards, T was over with his teammates and they started to talk with one another. They realized the ref had spoken poorly to at least 3 of the boys. As T came off the court, a father told E what had been said to the boys. Without hesitation, E was over talking to the ref about his poor decisions that night during the game and that it was inappropriate to call any child a ’sissy’. As I sat there and listen to the conversation…not once did the ref deny what he said…pathetic.

This is where my frustration lies…this man was in a postion of authority. Instead of staying ‘neautral’ or even keeping his mouth shut he chose to affect a child with his words. Since that night I have thought about this over and over…it still amazes me that adults forget who they are speaking too when talking to children. They are impressionable… Yes, I remember times in my life when I was younger when an adult said or did something that wasn’t right. I was grateful to have parents who knew and supported me when I was being ‘wronged’ but who also ‘called’ me on it when I was the one ‘wronging’ (so to speak). They have been a wonderful example to me on how to act when put into a hard situation. I truly hope that my boys see when the cards are down, their Mom and Dad will be there for them…that we will not only call them on their issues but support them when they are being treated poorly. ;)

Calendar COLORS

Monday, February 1, 2010

It is the first of the month and it’s time to change the calendar. In our home we have a color for each person in our family on our calendar: everyone-red, E-orange, H-purple, C-green, and T-blue. I have noticed that each day there are at least 2 colors. Never a dull moment in this house…except between the hours of 10pm-6am…then it’s lights out. ;)

Why do I bring up such a trivial thing? Well, this weekend my calendar kept me sane…yes, sane! Because I knew where I needed to be when and for how long…it was a great weekend and we were able to do it all. As busy as we were/are…this Mama wouldn’t change a thing. :)

Today, my calendar says many things, but not until this afternoon. For now, it’s laundry and cleaning day! :P

Dermatologist

Thursday, January 28, 2010

This morning I took C to a dermatologist. About a month ago his acne flared to the point where it hurt. I asked if he wanted me to take him to a doctor to which he responded, “I don’t care.” I was a bit frustrated with that response and let it go. On Sunday, E and I were talking and he said, “Make an appointment for C.” So…I did. :)

We went to a very nice doctor close to home who has given C 3 perscriptions: pill (he will take orally), face wash (every morning and night), and a ointment (for after the wash). He said, if we did not see an improvement in 3 months to come back, but that we should start to see a difference in 2-3 weeks. I am (and I think he is too) excited for the posibilites of clearing up his acne.

As a teen, I had acne pretty bad and HATED IT! If I can help C ‘nip it’ now…that will be HUGE! :)

Croupy

Tuesday, January 26, 2010

Today I am gonna stay close to home and finish the laundry, cleaning and bake some bread. Poor Gator is fighting a croupy cough…so hugs, some shows and books will be big today. Since it’s snowing…it’s even a better reason. ;)

Quiet weekend

Monday, January 25, 2010

Okay, I guess our weekend wasn’t quiet…we had the normal: ODP, futsal and basketball, but other than that it was quiet. ;)

C did train in about 2 inches of snow outdoors…he was cold afterwards but from what I could see, had a blast. How often do you get to play soccer in the SNOW? :P

I do have to tell you a quick story that just  made me laugh… T was playing in his basketball game. It was the 2nd half (they play halves) and T had 4 fouls. He is great at stealing the ball but sometimes reaches in too far and gets called for the reach. Anyway, his friend had actually picked off a pass and had an easy lay up to the basket. As most you of you know if you’ve watched 11 year olds play…easy NEVER is easy and the poor kiddo missed it. As T’s friend was under the basket, a bit defeated, an opposing player called him a looser. He turned to T and said, “Hey, can you help me ‘take care of that’? To which T responded, “I normally would but, I can’t cuz my grandparents are watching me.”

As he told us the story when we were walking out of the gym, it took all of our energy NOT to totally burst out laughing. Silly T… :D
