Too long
Tuesday, January 23, 2007Holy Cow, it has been a while since I blogged…4 days! I could tell you I was sick or really busy, but I just didn’t get online since Thursday night. Crazy I know…
My extended weekend was busy-I guess. I did the normal during the day on Friday…pick up kiddos from school, fix lunch, play games, read books, color…you know all the good stuff. That night we met up with some friends and went out to eat at Noodles. It was nice catching up with them and all they have been up to in their lives. They are a blended family…4 kids (quads) from her first marriage and 3 from his. It is amazing how sane they are after 7 kids, but they do it and well.
Over the weekend our youngest had 2 soccer games. My hubby said the first game- he didn’t play that well, but he did score. From what I was told, he had no desire to win 50/50 balls, and that CAN be frustrating to watch. The second game I was able to watch…he played well! I think he scored once and assisted on two. He and his buddy from his outdoor team really work well together. Those 2 boys were a huge part of this house teams record improving from last session.
I didn’t get to see his first game because I was helping out a girlfriend with her son’s basketball game. She was unable to go because of work so I went and watched him play. WOW…it brought back so many memories of when I was young. I really LOVE basketball, and watching this lil’ man play made me want to get our boys involved in basketball. When I came home and asked the boys our youngest said, “Sure, Mom, I’ll play basketball next season. Just let me know…I’d love to try it.” My oldest had no desire… HEY…I got one to think about it!
I also had a game this past weekend. It was snowing again so we only had enough girls to play-ironman. Thankfully, the other team did not have enough to play and had to forfeit. We ended up scrimmaging each other. They asked 3 young boys to play with them to ‘even out’ the playing field so to speak. I think we held our own with them! In fact, we won the scrimmage 8-3. I hadn’t played in 3 weeks so I was feeling a bit out of shape, but being on a field with all my girlfriends, giggling, and having fun made up for my out of breath & out of shape body! I think we shocked those young boys with how well we hung with them. It was fun.
Let’s see what else…oh yeah…I went and got my nails filled this weekend. My girlfriend and I were supposed to go together, but she was feeling a bit under the weather so I went by myself. It was nice to just sit. As shocking as this is going to sound…I didn’t even say a word to the guy doing my nails. We did ’small talk’, but this time I took a breather and relaxed. While I was letting my nails dry under their little lights thing…2 women were chatting with each other next to me. They seemed like very nice women, but as their conversation continued…I was finding myself becoming more hurt, and I hadn’t said one word! One woman was speaking about how she hoped all this snow we’ve been having was scaring all those ‘transplants’ from California to go home. Anyway, the conversation continued on bashing parents from my children’s school district to the caliber of people in general. As innocent as that conversation was to those 2 women…it hurt me deeply. I was sooo happy when my nails were dry-I just wanted to go. It truly made me realize that you just do not know who is next to you when you are talking to others, and to be careful in choosing your words.
We went to a different ward on Sunday due to the boys having soccer. They were very welcoming and kind. The Bishop came over and introduced himself to us. He seems very kind and was excited to have us in there. My hubby told him that he will probably be seeing a lot of us this winter and spring due to soccer. He said how wonderful to have us and that if we had any questions to just ask. It was nice, but we did miss chatting with friends. I was very proud of my boys for not complaining getting up so early for church (up by 7am-at church by 8:30am). It really does make a difference in our home and our lives when we are able to attend our church services on Sundays. I LOVE IT!
Yesterday, I reclaimed our home. I have been hearing of so many of our friends and their children coming down with the flu
- that I bleached anything and everything that could be bleached. We have been healthy for quite a while and I certainly don’t want to break the streak! I also finished up the laundry and played with the kiddos. We had a 2 hour delay yesterday for school, so I was able to accomplish a ton with the help of my boys. It was nice.
Today, I am off to run errands and pick up my lil’ man from school!
LOVE TO ALL~
P.S. I am sooo excited to see another ‘blogger’ added to our families growing list. I just love to read about everyone and what they are up to!
Wow you really have been busy. I am glad you could drop all of us a line. Sounds like fun.
I loved basketball. My hardest year was the one when we only had 5 players on our team for half the year. We used those time outs wisely.
Sorry about those women, when stuff like that happens it really does make you wonder what you’ve said that people have over heard. I believe people are getting meaner in this society as well, just what I think.
I like the new set up. It fits you a little better.
