Close to Home

Friday, May 29, 2009

Yesterday we stayed close to home so that G2 could adjust to his surroundings. He was so much fun to have around and his face when he saw the boys and E…priceless! ;)

They are HOME!

While Gator is catching some ZZZZ’s. I thought I post the pics of the pool on Monday and T’s square dancing yesterday.

FIRST…I am happy to see my boy! He was a bit hesitant this morning until he realized where he was…then we got the G2 back (not the speed) but that will come with time and sleep. ;)

The boys were going through the ‘lazy river’ before down the slide.  C playing catch with his brother…T is out of the picture. They were not very cooperative with letting me take their picture at the pool. :P

T’s square dancing:

T did a great job square dancing! It brought back memories of when I was younger. I was sure proud of him! :)

C ran his 5k in 27 minutes. I asked why it took him so long. (He can do it in less than 21 minutes normally.) He response, “We walked a couple laps…besides you wouldn’t have done any better!” He is right… it takes me a little over 30 minutes to do 3 miles! :P

I got my hair done again…NO it is not blond. Yes, it is the same as it was last time. Yes, it is starting to grow on me (pardon the pun). No, I will most likely not go totally blond again. It is healthy and my boys like it this way.  Majority rules…thanks my talented niece! ;)

*T made the top Premier team for U11’s. He is VERY excited to play in his own age group, and we are too…this will hopefully give him the boost of confidence he needs on a field to play at the level we know he can play! (THAT…or have a kid tell him he stinks…hee, hee, hee!) :D

79 years old

Wednesday, May 27, 2009

Yesterday we were able to attend a temple open house with my parents and my sister and her hubby. It was a beautiful temple. I enjoyed seeing my boy’s face looking intently at that intricate work. After taking a tour through the temple…they gave us a neat little meal/reception room where we were able to sit and chat. As we sat and chatted I met many co-workers that work with my parents in the Chruch Education System.

Yesterday was my Dad’s 79th birthday. I can not believe it. He is 79 years young.  I am thankful that my boys are able to get know my Dad again. I sure love him and want him to know how grateful I am. He is a wonderful example to me and I appreciate his support with my family. Happy Birthday, Dad. I love you! :)

3 day weekend

Tuesday, May 26, 2009

E was gone this weekend in OR for the Nike Friendlies for his ODP team. From what I understand, they did pretty well.

Friday:

*Went shopping at Quicksilver/Roxy

*Had my girlfriend and her daughter over for dinner. We stayed up way too late giggling and talking. It was fun.

Saturday:

*Went to see Night At the Museum with Gma and Gpa. It was cute.

*Went to Costco and bought the new Wii Active. I am loving it so far…

Sunday:

*Shhhed my kids all thru church… AHHH!

*Went to my sister’s house for a b-day party for my niece.

Monday:

*Went to the pool. We ALL got sun. I TRIED to tell the boys to put in more sunscreen. ;)

*Took T to ODP training.

I have pictures of the weekend, but the memory card is acting up. Hopefully my patience or the card will work soon so I can upload the pics! :)

Nice Day

Friday, May 22, 2009

My day:

*Ran with a blister…the band aide really didn’t help but none the less…I worked out.

*Grocery shopped and yet I still need to go get a couple more things the boys forgot to put on the list. ;)

*Sent T to scouts while I cooked dinner.

*Watched my boys ask if they could ride to the creek, to Gma and Gpa’s, and to friend’s house.

*Helped E plant the bulbs (thanks W&K!) and the Mums I bought yesterday.

*Helped my Mom cut flowers from our Lilac bush for my grandparent’s graves.

*Tried to stay awake while E packed for OR…he left this morning.

Did I do a ton? Not really, but it was a nice day, :)

Dropped the ball…

Thursday, May 21, 2009

The first time in a LONG time, I dropped the ball. (It was a beautiful moment for my teenager…) I had cleaned the house, finished up the laundry and made sure everything was in it’s place so that the boys and I could ‘play’ this weekend while my hubby is OR for the Nike Friendlies for ODP. I also knew that T had try-outs and was trying feverishly to get everything done. I knew I was forgetting something…but what?

As we were driving to try-outs…the light bulb went off… I FORGOT T’s tutoring session. I knew we would cut it close this week and I had made a note to call his teacher and yet…nothing. AHHHHHH! As C sat in the back seat snickering…I felt horrific. It is crazy how at the end of school…everybody packs in an activity, program, try-out, game, etc… *sigh*

Now, on to T’s try-outs…E and I decided that after the Spring season was done he would try-out for his own age group. (He played a year ahead…T was a U10 playing U11.) We knew he needed his confidence back and playing with his own age would help that. We were ‘prewarned’ that he will not be welcomed in his own age group because others will see him as a threat. We knew this was best for T, and basically talked to him about how to react to anything that was said to or towards him. With in minutes of checking him in…a little boy (oddly enough C’s team manager’s -the one who disliked E and C and helped spear head E’s leaving- her youngest boy) asked T, “Why are you here?” T responded sweetly, “I wanted to play in my own age group.” What came out of that boy’s mouth next threw me. He said, “Oh because you sucked in the older group?” T immediately came closer to me and instead of tears he had a feisty look. He told me what I thought I heard and then said, “I’ll show him who knows how to play!” THAT HE DID…T came off the field half way thru to get a drink with a HUGE smile on his face. As C and I watched him…he was beating boys to the ball, making runs, overlapping, crossing the ball in…it was fun to watch! When try outs finished he came over and said, “I had fun!” MUSIC to my ears…. :D

Phones and Choir

Wednesday, May 20, 2009

Yesterday I went to look for a new phone for C. (You honestly do not realize how much you like your child having a phone…until you can not get a hold of them!) I told E I was going to the T-Mobile store to look, and he said he would meet me down there. As we found a phone for C that was a pretty good deal…E suggested we look for T. They had a deal that if we added another line we could get a phone free and an upgrade for C with no extra charge as well as ‘uping’ our minutes for the same price we are paying now. I was hesitant, but then we realized the benefits of T having a phone…TEXT! Our plan has unlimited texting and we realized T could text anybody who text him. We are hoping this will help him feel more comfortable with his spelling, comprehension, and writing. So this Mama is telling you…IF you’d like his phone number…email me or call. We would love for you to text him! ;)

Last night we were able to go watch C’s Choir Concert. They did a great job! Their last song they sung was ‘Jail House Rock’. Can you find C? His poor Dad (who was in the audience had to have T and I show him where he  was…) I have often told my boys that I am a MEAN Mom…I have asked that they be well rounded and music is part of that ’rounding’. I am excited to see how he does in Concert Singers next year. This is a try-out singing group so I am pretty proud!

Forgetful or too busy?

Tuesday, May 19, 2009

Once again at the end of the school year I find myself running around like a chicken with it’s head cut off trying to make sure the kids to to every performance, every game, every try-out, tutoring session, scout meeting that they could possibly get to… As most of you know, I RELY heavily upon the calendar on the fridge to let me know how my day is going to ‘pan out’! Last year, when C ‘forgot’ a project I suggested he start writing it down so that his grades would not slip at the end of the year and his mother go into ‘freak out mode’. As most teenagers do…he did not listen. I get a very panic stricken phone call from C telling me he has a Spanish project due in less than 4 hours and could I help him print it out and bring it to him at school! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! I am now going to invest in a tiny calendar for next year and he IS going to write what is due when so that I can have my day back and not running back and forth from school. ;)

I was able to decompress at the pool for an hour yesterday. I just sat there and read a book and answered texts. It was nice. I was sad to have to get up and go get the kids, finish the laundry, and vacuum the floors before heading out in the afternoon.

T had his last game of the season last night. My niece and her family and my parents came to cheer him on. (THANKS!) They lost 4-2, but under the crazy officiating it should have been 3-3. However, since my last ‘run-in’ with a ref I keep my opinions closer… apparently it does not take a lot of testing to become a ref. So…C may be taking the test so that he can make (as he said) ‘easy money’. LOL! T played flat the first time in, but after that turned it on and even scored a goal with his left. I felt that something clicked and he started to play. Hopefully, that love for the game is starting to come back…

Last but not least, C broke his phone last night…now it’s time to search for a new one so that I can have him text me again when he forgets a project. Hee,hee, hee! :D

Another one?

Monday, May 18, 2009

Friday night T had a game down South. I could not remember during the week why I did not like this field until I was reminded by my hubby that this field was where I had my ‘altercation’ with the ‘yucky’ ref last season. Friends of ours needed a ride for their son, and I told them I would take him. I was VERY WORRIED…that ref would be there again. (I heard it’s ‘his’ area.) Anywho, he was not there and I was grateful. The boys did not win, and T came off crying. To tell you the truth, I was happy he was upset (not for the loss), but for the love of the game. Hopefully, tonight at the boy’s last game…they pick it up, and get the win. ;)

My brother came to stay with us this weekend. I enjoyed talking to him about the family and our kids. I only wish we had had more time with him while he was here. I hope the next time he comes…he brings his wife with him! Thanks for staying with us! :D

On Saturday, we found a friend who would take C to his game. Since he was not playing…I thought I would go watch my hubby’s team play. Boy, are they a different team from last season. They played poised and dominant the entire game. It was great to see their progress! E had another game for his HS boys right after his younger team.

Are you guys ready for this? My HUBBY got a red card at his HS boy’s game! I thought he was joking, but he wasn’t…he got a red card! Apparently, the ref was calling some poor fouls and my hubby went up to question him at half to ask for a little fairness. The ref got upset, poked E and then threw up a red card! I had to laugh…my boy’s were in rare form…2 red cards for our family in less than 3 days! :P *Just for the record, it WAS NOT T or myself that has EVER had a red… ;)

After all the commotion, I took T to the pool for a little R&R. It was nice even IF it was brief (an hour) to play in the water.

T in the pool 5-16-09

Last but not least, we went over to my brother’s house for some roasting of marshmallows. We all giggled when we saw T try to shove 2 HOT marshmallows in his mouth at once!

Red Card?

Friday, May 15, 2009

Last night C’s team had another game. This time my nephew and his wife and kids came to cheer C on with me! With 2 minutes left in the game, C got a red card for a ‘last man’ foul. I say it was a ’striker flop’ but none the less it was a red. I was just grateful I had my tiny nephew in my arms and my family close by…to say I was screaming was an understatement. Gratefully, with them near by…I could have been worse. ;) Thanks for supporting C (and me…)! :D

Now, we are just waiting to find out IF the ref took his card. (Apparently, the ref needs to take his card and bring it personally up to the State. Most refs are too lazy and do not…here’s hoping…) If he hasn’t…he gets to play on Saturday. However, if he did…he is done for the season. Yes, there are 2 more games left, but the one rescheduled game on Tuesday is on C’s choir concert night. If he does not participate in the Choir concert…we will recieve a failing grade (worth 80%), and that just ain’t gonna happen… :P

Last but not least… I AM 3 POUNDS away from goal!!!! I am so stinking happy! Now, how low can I go? Hmmmm… :)
